BOOK ONE--THE FIFTH CATEGORY

Country Lawyer Cameron Scott's criminal client  dies in jail before Cameron can even talk to him. The only person who seems to care is the client's sister, who pleads wtih Cameron to find out what happened. Before long, Cameron finds himself plunging headfirst into a hornet's nest of betrayal and intrigue. On top of that, he isn't sure whose sting may be worse--the shadowy organization he starts to uncover, or the equally shadowy government agent who wants him off the case. And it gets worse--an approaching category five hurricane spins Cameron into a wild ride full of twists, turns and surprises.

BOOK TWO--THE FOURTH ESTATE

Trouble seems to follow attorney Cameron Scott like a lonely, mangey dog.  Daughter Grae talks him into a working vacation at the state park where he began his first career, not far from her current home. All he needs to do is help Grae's friend Suzanne with the probate of her parents' estates.  Pretty simple. The problem is, somebody wants part of Suzanne's inheritance, and they don't mind taking Suzanne's life to get it. When Cameron pulls in some old friends from home to help track down the thieves, he finds out that the Federal government is equally interested in his quarry.

BOOK THREE--THE THIRD DEGREE

The Scotts' hopes for a relaxing mountain vacation are dashed by tragedy; and it gets personal.  They take a scenic rail excursion that runs through a curved tunnel famed for its near pitch-black darkness. On cue, the train's lights are cut out, and when they come back on, a young lady seated next to Cameron is dead. He swears he never saw the girl before, but the police--and wife Mary--wonder why his name is on a piece of paper in her pocket. Cameron's attempt to clear his name takes him on another deadly adventure in the Old North State.

BOOK FOUR--SECOND HAND

Cameorn's busy day includes an argument before the Sate Court of Appeals in the morning, and dinner with wife Mary and some special guests in the evening. Those plans scatter to the winds when a tornado rips through downtown Raleigh as court opens. A judge is left dead, but Cameron doubts that the twister killed him. Cameron and Mary draft the help of opposing counsel to search for the killer, or killers, eventually realizing that one of their special dinner companions may the be ultimate target.

BOOK FIVE--FIRST CLASS

Cameron thinks it odd when he learns about the premature deaths of several of his law school classmates. He becomes downright alarmed when he uncovers a common thread among the deaths; a thread that convinces him that his own death may be imminent. He must use that thread to stitch numerous clues together and find who is behind the bizarre killings, before his time runs out.

NEXT: BOOK SIX--ZERO TOLERANCE

Cameron is ready to bring a new associate into his firm, but his preferred hire has some unwanted baggage--a former roommate has disappeared under unsavory circumstances. When Cameron tackles the challenge of finding the missing roommate and getting his new hire on the job, he runs headlong into a political nightmare.
